Since the installation of cookies and other tracking systems by third parties through the services used on the Site cannot be technically controlled by the Controller, any specific reference to tools installed by third parties is to be regarded as indicative. For complete information, the User is invited to consult the privacy notices of the third-party services referred to in this document.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text strings that the Site sends to and stores on the User’s device for use on the next visit. While browsing, the User may also receive cookies sent by different sites or servers belonging to third parties, on which elements present on the Site may reside, such as images, maps, sounds or links to pages on other domains.
Cookies may be used, for example, to carry out computer authentication, monitor sessions and store information about specific User configurations.
Technical cookies and aggregated statistics
Technical cookies are installed on the User’s device to allow the Site to work, to recognise the User on access, to optimise browsing and to carry out analyses aimed at improving appearance, functionality and security. Installing technical cookies does not require the User’s prior consent.
These include:
- session cookies: strictly necessary for the Site to work, they ensure normal browsing and use of the pages;
- analytics cookies treated as technical cookies: used, in the cases and with the safeguards provided for by law, to collect aggregated information on the number of Users and on use of the Site;
- functionality cookies: they allow browsing according to criteria selected by the User, such as language.
Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are used to build profiles of the User and to send advertising messages in line with the preferences shown while browsing. Installing them requires the User’s consent.
These tools may be used for remarketing or retargeting activities, pixel tags or web beacons intended to measure use of the Site, and third-party media widgets or plug-ins that allow content to be shared on social networks. Such tools may collect the IP address, the page visited and other information necessary for them to work. Interactions carried out through widgets and plug-ins are also subject to the privacy notices of the third parties that provide them.
Other third-party cookies or tools
Some services may collect aggregated, anonymous statistics and, depending on the characteristics of the processing, may not require the User’s consent or may be managed directly by the Controller. Services managed by third parties may carry out tracking activities beyond what is described here and not directly controllable by the Controller.
- User database management: these services make it possible to build profiles starting from the e-mail address, the name or other information supplied by the User, and to analyse the activities carried out on the Site. The data may be matched with publicly available information, such as social profiles, and used to improve the Site or to send messages based on specific actions.
- Interaction with social networks and external platforms: these services make it possible to interact with external platforms directly from the pages of the Site. The information acquired is subject to the User’s privacy settings on each service. Such tools may collect traffic data even when the User does not use them; disconnecting from the respective services is therefore recommended.
- Behavioural targeting: these services allow the Site and its partners to optimise and display advertisements based on previous use of the Site. The User may use the opt-out tools made available by the individual providers or block cookies through the browser.
- Statistics: these services allow the Controller to monitor and analyse traffic data and User behaviour.
- Content from external platforms: these services make it possible to view and use content hosted on third-party platforms. Even without any interaction, the external service may collect traffic data relating to the pages on which it is installed.
